Luscious luncheon

Hoorah for Christmas lunches!  Just had my second of several Christmas lunches (not all today) and it was fab.  What could be better than a super duper pub lunch on a Friday when the weekend is in sight and I don’t have to drive home?  Black pudding with cheese filled hash brown and pancetta to start, followed by slow cooked beef with red cabbage and mash, with pot au chocolat to finish (not the whole pot I might add – was too much for even me).  All washed down with some ‘rich but soft’ red wine.  Hip hip hoorah for Christmas!  Only problem is I now can’t really see properly to do any work, oops.  Hey ho, ’tis nearly the weekend….

Hangover hell

What is it with hangovers getting worse as I get older?  Had one of many work christmas dos on Friday night and obviously drank a shed load of wine as it would have been rude not too.  Fully expected to feel rough on Saturday (which I did), even expected a little bit of roughness on Sunday, but to still feel wretched on Monday is just unacceptable.  Perhaps it’s something I ate rather than the gallons of wine….or perhaps that’s just wishful thinking and my liver is actually damaged forever……
